The Kansas City Chiefs star cornerback, Brandon Flowers, who had been out since July 31st with an injured left foot, is not likely to play in the Chiefs home opener against the Atlanta Falcons. When playing a team with two standout wide receivers, Julio Jones and Roddy White, not having your best cornerback is never a good start. With the former Kansas City Chief, Brandon Carr, now on the Cowboys, and Flowers status up in the air, the Chiefs may be forced to start Jalil Brown on the other side of the former Raider, Stanford Routt.
Although it’s uncertain whether or not Flowers will play, and we believe it’s unlikely, there is still some good news. The good news is that the Chiefs head coach, Romeo Crennel said that in addition to DT Anthony Toribio, LB Derrick Johnson, S Kendrick Lewis, and QB Brady Quinn, Flowers has been progressing and is getting better. We can only hope that he can heal quickly and be ready for week one, because we know he will be needed.
