Neither the Chiefs nor the Bills looked particularly good this past Sunday. The Kansas City faithful fell prey to the team Tony Gonzalez left them for a few years back, the Atlanta Falcons, the final score being 40-24. This was an embarrassing loss, but nothing compared to the Bills being topped by one of the off seasons most controversial teams, The New York Jets, 48-28.
While both losses were certainly embarrassing, the Bills one should have been more of a wakeup call. They are in the same division as the Jets and probably were much more angry about their loss than the Chiefs falling to a consistently good Falcons team. Because of this, I’m going with the Bills to not only beat the Chiefs, but easily cover the spread of -3.5 that they have to overcome.
There are plenty of other reasons why the Bills are a better pick this week than the Chiefs. While Ryan Fitzpatrick looked terrible against the Jets defense on Sunday, he has plenty of better weapons around him than a Matt Cassel that is nothing if not disappointing. The Bills running game is top of the line and will certainly move the ball up and down the field with players like Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller carrying the ball. The Chiefs running game also has its advantages, but is not nearly as strong. Peyton Hillis and Jamaal Charles just don’t have the play making abilities of the Bills backfield. They can’t consistently move the ball up and down the field. This will definitely decide the game when all is said and done this coming Sunday afternoon.
When you are making your NFL picks this week, definitely go for the Bills to cover against the Chiefs. They just have more to prove and better weapons at their disposal.
