What a difference a week makes. After a stellar win against the New Orleans Saints in week 3, the Kansas Chiefs were unable to get a momentum going against division rivals the San Diego Chargers in week 5. They looked like the Chiefs of old, letting the Chargers walk all over them for an easy win. If the Chiefs continue to play at this level going forward on the season, taking them as one of your NFL picks in week 5, or ever, will be a very misguided and all around stupid move.
Starting on offense, the Chiefs just looked terrible in week 4. They turned the ball over not once, not twice, not even just three times. By game’s end, they managed to turn the ball over to the Chargers defense an insane six times. This came with three fumble recoveries and three interceptions thrown by the increasingly disappointing Matt Cassel. He consistently looked terrible this week, and it only looks to be getting worse as the season progresses. He will need to step it up big time if he wishes to remain the Chiefs starting quarterback.
Of course, the offense was not the only problem for the Chiefs this week. Their defense looked atrocious as well. They allowed 37 points by games end and only were able to grab one interception from San Diego’s Phillip Rivers. At this point in the season, the Chiefs defense is close to one of the worst in the league, and they will need major changes if they want to start getting some wins on the season.
Those wins don’t look to be coming anytime soon, however, because the Chiefs have to play the Baltimore Ravens in week 5. They have only been given a +4.5 points spread on the week too, so picking them on parlays doesn’t even look like a good idea at this point. Avoid the Chiefs at all costs if you are planning on betting in week 5.
