Chiefs vs. Colts Preview

The Chiefs square off against the rookie-led Indianapolis Colts this weekend.

The Colts come into the game needing a victory in order to secure their spot in the playoffs. The Chiefs are just looking forward to the end of the season at this point. If the Chiefs can pull off the upset, they risk losing their chance at the number one overall draft pick come the 2013 NFL Draft. The Chiefs have also been scoreless in their last 7 quarters. That’s the amount of time they have been without star wide receiver Dwayne Bowe.

In order for the Chiefs to have even a remote chance at scoring, Jamaal Charles must get started early and be used often. The Chiefs passing game has proved unreliable this season, especially since Bowe was put on injured reserve.

Andrew Luck and the Colts have been hot this year. Luck can throw downfield and is very mobile when the pass play breaks down. The Chiefs defense must press hard the entire game if they hope to contain the 9-5 Colts.

With the Chiefs currently set to have the number one pick in the draft, I would hate to see them lose it. At the same time, I don’t want to watch a team that just goes out there to give up early.

Of course, many would argue that the Chiefs have done that all season.
