Record                                                       Sacks                                      avg. pts. allowed

Chiefs 4-0                                                    18                                                    10.3

Titans 3-1                                                     14                                                    17.3

Both these teams are coming in with top ten defenses, one is first in sacks and the other is tied for third and both with an astonishing +9 turnover margin. This is definitely going to be a very physical defensive game, with both teams putting up solid defense. Tennessee’s new look Defense is doing numbers by wreaking havoc and disrupting the pocket. Kansas City’s defense is currently the number one defense in the NFL, with a pro bowl linebacker unit.

Key Defensive players to watch:

KC: Justin Huston, Dontari Poe, Eric Berry

Tenn:  Alterraun Verner, Jason McCourty, Michael Griffin

PTS. per game              YDS per game             pass YDS                 rush yards

KC                       25.5                                    347                           227                                121

Tenn                   24.5                                     313                           193                                 120

Both these teams protect the ball very well, the Titans are coming into this game with ZERO turnovers on the season! These teams should put up flare plays here and there but I expect this game to be close. Alex Smith will get his looks against the Titans defense, but the worry is the right side of the line for the Chiefs with RT Fisher out with a concussion. For Tenn. the key is Fitzpatrick filling in for the injured Jake Locker, Fitzpatrick’s previous encounters against this Chiefs team has favored him. His previous stats show totals of 386 yds and 6 touchdowns, but even though the defense holds a lot of the same faces they are not the same defense at all. Look for the Chiefs to keep doing what they have been (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it), and for Tenn. I think they will take their shots downfield, but look for them to pound the ball with their star running back Chris Johnson.

Key offensive players:

KC: Alex Smith, Jamal Charles, Dwayne Bowe

Tenn: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Chris Johnson, Nate Washington

Things to watch

This should be a very good game to watch, but probably not so much for fantasy football (unless you have one of the teams as your defense). Look for the Titans to try to control the ball and run, run, run. The pressure will be on the Chiefs front to try and stop it, Dontari Poe has to continue his presence in the gaps and disrupt running lanes. Alex Smith needs to continue to be smart and patient, Titans defense needs to do the same. I look for Dwayne Bowe to continue to get involved in this new offense. And the Titans key is their offensive line, they have to protect the QB as well as open lanes for the run game that they are going to need to be successful.
